Niagara debuts with strong performance against Gillett
GILLETT, Wis. — In a Marinette-Oconto Conference girls volleyball opener Tuesday, Niagara swept Gillett 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-21) at Gillett High School.
“Gillett has a good team with strong senior leadership that pushed our team. We have a good mix of seniors, juniors and sophomores that were able to come together and produce in a short amount of time with some last minute adjustments,” said veteran Lady Badgers head coach Carol St. Arnauld.
“Our serving was key with Alyssa Cretton, Bailey Pearson, Julia Brown and Abby Wells serving 100% and Morgan Borchardt leading in service aces with three,” St. Arnauld said.
“Our offense was led by our sophomore setter, Morgan Borchardt, who did a good job keeping the ball in front of her hitters.”
Cretton lead the team with 16 kills while Pearson had some outstanding hits with nine kills, noted St. Arnauld.
“Our entire team really played well tonight, and each player truly deserves to be highlighted. If this team continues to grow, we have a chance to do some great things.”
Niagara returns home to host M&O Conference foe Crivitz on Thursday.
