West Iron girls tennis blanks Ironwood, 8-0

STAMBAUGH — The West Iron County girls tennis team competed in non-conference action on Tuesday as they hosted Ironwood. The Wykons defeated Ironwood 8-0 at the Nelson Field Tennis Courts.

“The girls came out with great attitudes today which was important for playing back to back matches. Hopefully we can continue to improve as we are now in the final leg of the season,” said West Iron coach Joe Serbentas. “Staying consistant will be a top priority with the end of the year tournaments approaching.”

Serbentas noted that the Red Devils were missing two key players from their roster in the match, which forced them to shuffle their lineup around.

West Iron improves to 5-6-1 on the season, as they travel to Gwinn on Thursday, before returning home to complete their regular season on Monday versus Norway.
