IRON RIVER -- The West Iron girls tennis team improved to 4-5 on the season, blanking Ishpeming 8-0 in a non-conference tennis match Thursday.
Wykons coach Joe Serbentas said the No. 2 doubles team of Aubrey Bice and Katarina Hemeleski is starting to build some chemistry, posting a 6-1, 6-0 win. "I was really impressed with Aubrey and Katarina today as they worked well setting each other up with nice angled groundstrokes," said.
Serbentas also credited No. 1 singles Livea Mazurek with "a solid victory" and said No. 4 singles Brynlee Nodurft has "quietly put together a nice season so far."
West Iron travels to Escanaba for a makeup match today.
