Ed Swanson cans 18; Rangers zap Niagara, 50-39

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — Despite a game high 18 points from sophomore Ed Swanson, Niagara fell to Marinette-Oconto Conference foe Wausaukee 50-39 here Thursday night.

“We need more than one guy to step up and score for us, we can’t rely on only one person to score all of our points,” said Niagara head coach Steve Derwinski. “In the second half, Wausaukee got after it, their intensity and our turnovers is what cost us the game.”

Derwinski noted the excellent game Swanson had with his game-leading point total.

There were a combined 43 fouls called in the game, with a combined 52 free throws shot.

Brendan Versaskis, Dominic Brunnette and Corry Buesen each netted 10 points to lead Wausaukee in scoring on the night.

In the jayvee game, Preston Stoltz netted a game- high 20 points for Niagara, as they defeated the Rangers 29-24.

Niagara (0-2), returns home to welcome M&O Conference foe Coleman to Niagara Tuesday night. The contest is varsity only, with a 6 p.m. tip off for the varsity contest.
