Calumet checks Kingsford hockey
CALUMET — In a Great Lakes Hockey Conference matchup on Thursday evening, Calumet defeated Kingsford 10-2 at the historic Calumet Coliseum.
The Flivvers played a competitive first two quarters against one of the best high school hockey teams in the state, getting outshot by the Copper Kings 46-13. Kingsford senior goalie Evan Anderson had 36 saves.
Hunter Fortner tallied a goal in the first period for Kingsford, assisted by Carter Kreski. The Flivvers’ third period goal was scored by Kurt Adiao Ryan, with Fortner and Tyler Bengston getting credited with helpers.
Kingsford, who slips to 3-2 (3-2 GLHC) on the season, travels to Marquette Saturday morning for an 11 a.m. Central puck drop at Lakeview Arena. The Flivvers travel to Hancock on Wednesday.
