Mountaineers stifle Bulldogs, 67-31

HANCOCK — Iron Mountain improved to 6-0 on the season, with a 67-31 win Friday night over Hancock. The Mountaineers Foster Wonders led all scorers with 32 points in the West PAC Conference matchup.

“There was no rhythm to the game, and we had foul trouble,” said Iron Mountain head coach Harvey “Bucky” Johnson. “Foster sat out the final 5:18 of the second quarter and we were able to extend our lead, which is huge for us. Jürgen (Kleiman) had eight points during that stretch and we held them to three points in the quarter,”

Kleiman had a season-high 12 points for the Mountaineers.

“Bryce (Pietrantonio), Jürgen (Kleiman) Joey Dumais and Dante (Basanese) had good games combining for 31 points and 25 rebounds,” Johnson added. “The second half was a little better, but we came home with a win.”

JD Sebbas led the Bulldogs with 11 points, while Vandon Jacques chipped in 10 points.

The Mountaineers return home to host West PAC Conference foe West Iron Monday night, before traveling to Houghton on Thursday night for another West PAC tilt.
