Norway girls surprise ND, 44-36

2 min read

NORWAY -- Kassie Gyselinck scored 22 points to lead Norway past North Dickinson 44-36 in non-conference girls basketball Friday.

Ashton Hord paced the Nordics with 19 points.

"North Dickinson is a good team and we were able to match their tempo and frustrated their guards," said Norway coach Joe Tinti.

"We executed our offense well, handled the pressure that ND gave us, and hit some shots down the stretch when we needed it. We rotated a lot of girls in and then were relentless defensively," he said.

Scoring 12 points apiece were MacKenzie Clifford for the Knights and Micah Lindholm for the Nordics.

"We seemed to be a step behind Norway tonight. They out hustled us and out scrapped us," said ND head coach Kirk Mattson. "We couldn't handle their physical play and they played with more urgency than we did."

Norway also won the JV game.

The Nordics (1-1, 1-1 SCC) travel to conference foe North Central on Monday for a varsity only matchup beginning at 6 p.m.

Norway, (1-1, 1-1 SCC) returns to action at 3 p.m. this afternoon when they host Stephenson. The Knights boys play the Eagles prior to the girls game. Today's two JV contests at Norway are in the Middle School gym.
