Norway forces OT, but rally comes up short

NORWAY — Bark River-Harris needed overtime to get past Norway 52-44 in SKyline Central Conference girls basketball Monday.

The Knights went on a 15-5 run in the fourth quarter to force the extra period, but faltered from there.

“We ran out of gas,” said Norway coach Joe Tinti. “We executed our defensive scheme for much of the game, keeping us within striking range while dealing with early foul trouble. We had way too many missed opportunities from the field,” he added.

The Knights were led by sophomore Andi Carlson’s 16 points. Cara Zawacki paced the Broncos with 15 points.

“The girls are showing their heart and are getting really exciting to watch,” said Tinti. “We need to continue to work on our offensive execution.”

The Knights hit just two of 10 free throws.

The Norway JVs also lost in overtime.

“Coach (Brian) Adams and I are proud of both of these teams as they have been dealt a tremendous amount of adversity and they keep pushing through and are getting better while doing so,” Tinti said.

Norway travels to North Central on Friday for a varsity only SCC matchup with the Jets, whcich will tip off at 6 p.m. in Powers.
