Wykons rally past Lady Knights

NORWAY — A huge fourth quarter powered West Iron past Norway 45-33 in girls basketball Tuesday.

The Knights led 29-25 entering the final frame, but the Wykons went on a 20-4 run to the buzzer.

“We let it slip away for the second night in a row,” said Norway coach Joe Tinti. “Sending West Iron to the free throw line 36 times didn’t help the cause and we struggled to get things going offensively.”

Danica Shamion led the Wykons with 18 points, while Jordan Shamion netted 11. The Knights got nine points apiece from Donna VanHolla and Andi Carlson.

“Give the girls from Norway some credit, they made us work for every point,” said West Iron coach Eric Shamion. “We had a big fourth quarter on offense and I liked our focus on the defensive end,” he added.

Tinti said his team played hard and looked good at times.

“We just need to find consistency late in the game,” he said.
