Calumet bows in semifinals

EAST LANSING — Despite a game-high 22 points from senior guard Eli Djerf, Calumet fell to Kent City 59-53 in an MHSAA Division 3 state semifinal girls basketball game Wednesday.

” I think in some ways, the girls made some mistakes today that we weren’t accustomed to them doing, and I think that had to do with nervousness,” said Calumet coach Matt Laho. “We got out rebounded at key times, and that didn’t help either,” he said.

Kent City will advance to play Grass Lake Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern time in the state championship game.
