HERMANSVILLE — Ben Stelzer of Class A champion Dexters of Menominee received the Joe Rodman trophy as the outstanding player of the 82nd Gold Medal Classic independent basketball tournament.

Kyle Monroe, also of Dexters, was awarded the George Maule trophy as the outstanding player in Class A. The Defensive MVP award was given to Asutin Argma of Dexters.

Matt Wagner of Class B champion Bloniarz Farms/Parker Feed of Perronville was awarded the Frank Rodman trophy as Class B outstanding player. Bloniarz Farms/Parker Feed team captain Justin Bloniarz was given the Glen Fleetwood Sportsmanship trophy.

The Ray Bray Most Colorful Player of the Tournament trophy was given to Jake Brock of the Daggett Church Ballers.

The Bob Maule trophy for the outstanding player in the Women’s Division was given to former Kingsford High School standout Maria Wiltzius of the Marinette, Wis., Basketball Junkies. With her 38 points in the title game, Wiltzius narrowly missed receiving the Dick Deschaine trophy for most points in a game, which went to Ishpeming graduate Hart Holmgren of 3’s Company from Escanaba. Holmgren’s 39 was enough to edge out Wiltzius.

The Marv Fedrizzi trophy for most points in the tournament went to Chris Dobessi of Juice Promotions of Carney, who netted 96 points throughout the weekend.

The Donald Hill trophy, for the outstanding player in Class C, went to Josh Granquist of R-Place in Spalding. Tyler Mercier of CTR-44 of Hermansville received the John Bellefuil award as the outstanding player in Class E.
