Mountaineers capture Regional championship over Oscoda, 63-52
SAULT STE. MARIE —- The undefeated Iron Mountain Mountaineers boys basketball team captured the MHSAA Division 3 Regional 17 championship, by defeating previously unbeaten Oscoda, 63-52 Thursday night at Sault High. Also in the come from behind Mountaineers win, IM senior Foster Wonders became the Upper Peninsula boys, all-time leading scorer, late in the first quarter.
The Mountaineers (17-0) will face McBain (16-0) Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Central at Lake City High School in an MHSAA Division 3 Quarterfinal game.
