NIAGARA, Wis. -- Seven teams joined the Florence-Niagara co-op track team for the 2021 Niagara Invitational meet on Thursday afternoon at Niagara.
On the team side, it was the Florence-Niagara boys who slipped past Iron Mountain by two points to claim the title. On the girls side, North Dickinson powered past second-place Iron Mountain by 25 points to claim the title.
Forest Park senior Mason Rintala was a dual event winner for the Trojans, capturing the 800 and 1600 meter races. Rintala also finished second in the 3200.
Florence-Niagara's Patrick Milan eked out winning the 100 by a tenth of a second, while teammate Blake Smith won both hurdles races, 110 lows and 300 highs.
Evan Bruemmer was second in the discuss and shot put for Florence-Niagara.
Iron Mountain won all four relay races on the boys side: Joe Colavecchi, Caleb Evosevich-Hynes, Joey Dumais and Dante Basanese won the 400 and 800 relays. Will Fairchild, Brandon Walstrom, Cayden William and Evan Tregillis captured the 1600 relay.
Fairchild, Isaac Manier, Angel Vanegas and Luke Ruble won the 3200 relay.
Norway's Zach Seat finished second the long jump by a margin of 1/4 of an inch, while teammate Wyatt Richer finished second in the pole vault.
Forest Park's Tim McKissak won the Triple Jump (33'9), with Aiden Richards of Norway finishing second by only one inch (33'8).
On the girls side, Ashton Hord of North Dickinson won the 200, 400, the long jump and was anchor leg on the Nordics' 1600 relay winning team. Micah and Vanessa Lindholm and Mya Grunlund joined Hord on the 1600 relay team.
Micah Lindholm also won the 300m low hurdles, was second in the 100 meter high hurdles while Vanessa Lindholm won the 800 meters.
"Ashton Hord, Micah Lindholm and Vanessa Lindholm led us to our win today," said North Dickinson head coach Mike Roell. "We had a-lot of kids step up and get seconds and thirds, which was unexpected. I was really surprised we were able to do as well as we did and compete well as we did to start the season. I am proud of the kids for their effort."
Florence-Niagara's Morgan Borchardt won the 100, with second place finishes in the 200 and long jump. Borchardt was also the third leg of F-N's 400 meter relay winning team, along with Alyssa Cretton, Emma Brasure and Audrey Selden.
Cretton was victorious in the high jump, while Selden won the 100 meter high hurdles.
Iron Mountain won the 800 relay, with Anja Kleiman, Chloe Maycroft, Emma Ellis and Abbygayle Richer filling out the lineup. The Lady Mountaineers also won the 3200 relay, behind Elle Lofholm, Leah Winch, Natalia Brown and Gabrielle Carey.
Richer and Lofholm took second place finishes in the 100 and 400 respectively for IM, while Maycroft and Andie Ellis tied for second in the high jump. Sara Kulas finished second in the 1600 for the Mountaineers.
Charlie Larson of Forest Park won the triple jump, while Norway's Taylor Adams finished second in the 3200.
