HOUGHTON -- The Kingsford boys track team came in second to host Houghton in an MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division 1 track and field regional Thursday afternoon.
Kingsford won three of the four relays -- 800, 400 and 1600 -- with Diego Przeslakowski winning the 300 hurdles, Chris Carollo taking the 400 meters and Matthew Wilson claiming the discus.
"As a team today we benefitted from our roster being only one man short and capitalized on it," said Kingsford boys track coach Joe Kriegl. "Some great individual achievements and the relay races are nothing short of fantastic."
The 1600 relay winning team for the Flivvers was Przeslakowski, Carollo, Hunter Bilgreen and Brody Kopp.
Cole Myllyla, Michael Floriano, Trestan Larson and Przeslakowski took the 400 relay win, while Larson, Kopp, Carollo and Michael Meneguzzo raced to victory in the 800 relay.
On the girls side, the Flivvers finished with 25 points on the day, as the host Lady Gremlins took the team title. Kingsford's lone first place finish was Erika Malone in the long jump.
The Flivvers return to action Thursday at Marquette Senior High School for the Great Northern Conference championship meet.
