Norway girls sweep BR-H in softball doubleheader

NORWAY — In a Skyline Central Conference doubleheader, it was a Norway sweep, with the Lady Knights defeating Bark River-Harris, 18-2 and 5-1 at Marion Park Monday afternoon.

Norway took control of game one, with a 14- run second inning.

Knights sophomore Kali Stanchina pitched all four innings for the Knights, fanning four batters. She went 2-3 from the plate with a triple and a double, with 2 RBI’s and scored three runs.

Hannah Burklund went 3-4, while Mackenzie Gilroy and Andi Carlson went 2-3, with all three girls scoring two runs. Carlson cracked a 2 RBI double and Gilroy added an RBI as well.

Esther Oswald hit a triple and Abbie Ingersoll hit a double for the Broncos. Oswald pitched all four innings for the Broncos.

In game two, Burklund pitched the distance for Norway, with seven strikeouts, while walking none in seven innings. She also went 2-4 from the plate with a run scored.

Gilroy went 2-2 and also scored a run for Norway, while teammate Taylor Adams cracked a 2 RBI double.

The Knights return to action this afternoon, as they host Niagara in a doubleheader at Marion Park.
