FLORENCE, Wis. — The Norway boys and North Dickinson girls won the team championships at Thursday’s Bobcat Invitational Track and Field meet.

Norway eked past the host Florence-Niagara team, 155-154.5, while the Nordics girls won by 40 points over the hosts, 135-95.

The Knights had three multiple event winners, with senior Zach Seat capturing the high and long jumps, Bryce Neuens racing to victory in the 400 and 800 meters and Aiden Richards winning the discus and triple jump.

“We had some great surprises tonight with Aidan (Richards) with his first time over a 100-feet for first place in the discus and a first place in the triple jump, which we only do in Wisconsin meets,” said Norway boys track coach Al Trudeau. “Brandon Dishaw had a great night also with second in the triple jump and also in the mile.”

Seat had his best jump of the year in long jump.

“All of our relay teams also placed and I believe close if not our best times in each event,” Trudeau added. “Wyatt (Richer) also did a great job in his both sets of hurdles tonight. Everyone did a wonderful job and we love it to have won today.”

Richer, Seat, VanHolla and Gabe Hautamaki won the 400 relay for Norway.

Florence-Niagara’s Patrick Milan won the 100 and 200 meters, while teammate Blake Smith captured the 300 hurdles. Evan Bruemmer of F-N won the shot put, at 37 feet 11 inches.

Smith, Milan, Corbin West and William Liebergen won the 800 relay for F-N.

The North Dickinson boys won both distance races, with Nick Conery capturing the 1600 and Steven Holmes the 3200 meters.

Conery, Holmes, Colin LaFave and Trevor Larson won the 3200 relay for North Dickinson.

On the girls side, Ashton Hord won four events for the Nordics — the 100, 200 and 400 meters and the long jump. Sophomore Micah Lindholm won the discus, while junior Sophie Mattson won the 3200 meters.

Hord edged Morgan Borchardt of F-N by a tenth of a second in the 100 meters.

“My girls are really competing hard. We have good attitudes and everyone is pulling for each other, it is nice to see,” said veteran ND girls track coach Mike Roell.

North Dickinson’s Vanessa Lindholm, Madelyn Applekamp, Mya Grunlund and Micah Lindholm captured the 1600 relay.

Florence-Niagara’s Audrey Seldon won both hurdles races, while teammate Kiera Sullivan won the 1600 meters. Niagara student Alyssa Cretton won the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, which is two inches shy of the school record which she set in 2019 as a sophomore.

Seldon, Cretton, Josie Rock and Borchardt of F-N won the 400 meter relay.

Norway’s Taylor Adams edged Vanessa Lindholm in the 800.

North Central’s girls captured two relays. Zoe LaBonte, Katrina Borucki, Andi Arsenault and Samantha Burton won the 800 relay while the 3200 winners for the Jets were Gracie Kleikamp, Talia LaFave, Ashtyn Smith and Jesi Dani.
