Norway sweeps Lake Linden-Hubbell
NORWAY — In a non-conference doubleheader Friday afternoon, Norway defeated Lake Linden–Hubbell, 11-1 and 17-4 at Mike Maule Field at Marion Park in Norway.
A five-run bottom of the 4th inning for the host Knights ended the first game.
Norway starting pitcher senior Gannon Bray struck out seven while not allowing a hit in three innings and walking three batters.
Carson Chartier cracked a double for the Knights and tallied a team leading 3 RBI’s, while pitching the top of the 4th inning, fanning two LL-H batters. Tyler Spring had 2 RBI’s for Norway.
The Lakes pitchers allowed seven walks and the visitors committed four errors as a team.
Chase Carlson, Austyn Dwight and Brent Lagina each scored two runs for Norway.
In game two, Tyler Neuens’ triple and 4 RBI’s and Isaac Lorenzoni’s 3 RBI’s led the Knights’ offensive attack.
Norway pitchers Nolan Amundson, Chase Carlson and Lorenzoni combined for 10 strikeouts. Amundson didn’t allow a walk and gave up only one hit to pick up the win.
Norway (2-1) returns to action on Tuesday as they open their Skyline Central Conference schedule at Bark River-Harris.
