Bobcats bow to Lena, 27-8
LENA, Wis. — Florence threatened into the fourth quarter before falling to Lena 27-8 in 8-player football Thursday.
The Bobcats’ lone score came on a 2-yard run by William Kelley in the first quarter. He added the conversion.
“Lena controlled the ball and controlled the clock,” said Florence coach Kent Walstrom. “They kept grinding out first downs.”
The Bobcats trailed14-8 entering the final quarter.
“It came apart at the end,” Walstrom said. They’re a really big and physical team.”
Evan Johnson led the Florence rushing attack with 61 yards on 10 carries. Kelley added 32 yards rushing and was 9 of 14 passing for 99 yards with one interception.
Leading tacklers for the Bobcats (1-1) were Trent Watkins and Isaiah Fennessy.
Florence hosts Sevastopol on Friday, Sept. 10.
