KINGSFORD — In a Great Northern Conference volleyball match, Escanaba swept the host Kingsford Flivvers, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-15) Tuesday evening at the Kingsford Middle School Gym.

“Escanaba deserved to win, they played much better than us offensively and defensively. We were on our heels most of the night reacting rather than taking control of the game,” said Kingsford head coach Jaclynn Kreider. “It was disappointing that we didn’t put up a better fight, but if we can learn and grown from this then it will be worth it.”

The Flivvers return to action this evening as they will travel to Norway for a varsity only non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.

“Always a great match when these two teams meet, but we came ready to play,” said Escanaba head coach Adam Lambert. “Defeating the Flivvers in a three-set sweep has never happened in my coaching career when we play against them in either a tournament or in a conference dual. They always bring us the best back and forth matches.”

Escanaba also won the JV match, 2-0 (25-2, 25-5), while the Flivvers freshmen won, 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 15-7).
