Kingsford spikers sweep Maroons

25-11 scores in all 3 sets

MENOMINEE — In a Great Northern Conference volleyball match, Kingsford swept host Menominee, 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-11) on Tuesday night at Menominee High School.

“Tonight we put our foot on the gas pedal in the first set and didn’t take it off. I’m so proud of the girls for not letting up and keeping our offense aggressive,” said Kingsford head coach Jaclynn Kreider. “Our team attacking efficiency was 0.32, which is impressive. We limited our errors while working on a faster tempo offense.”

Kingsford also won the freshmen and jayvee matches: JV won 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-13) and the freshmen won 3-0 (25-5, 25-15, 26-24).

“Tonight we also came into the match with some adversity after an injury late in practice last night. We weren’t able to practice the ‘5-1’ offense but had no other option but to run it. We had lots of girls step it up and overall everyone worked together to figure it out on the fly. This is such an amazing group of girls to coach. They stick together and stay positive through the ups and downs,” Kreider added.

The Flivvers return to action on Thursday as they’ll travel to Marquette for a Great Northern Conference matchup with the Redettes, before hosting Iron Mountain on Tuesday.
