IRON MOUNTAIN -- Junior Ellison Powell recorded 17 aces for Iron Mountain as the Mountaineers swept non-conference rival Norway, 3-0 (25-8, 28-7, 25-0) in girls volleyball action Tuesday night at the Mountaineer Gymnasium.
"As a team we played together in all three sets and kept the energy up the entire way," said assistant coach Emma Thomann. "Norway definitely kept us on our toes with a couple long rallies. I have to credit Ellison Powell on her 24 serves in a row. We are looking forward to Calumet on Thursday."
The Mountaineers travel to perennial powerhouse Calumet for a West PAC Conference clash on Thursday. Iron Mountain will then return to action on Sept. 18 in the Forest Park Invitational.
