Mountaineers earn tennis draw against Gladstone

KINGSFORD — In a Mid-Peninsula Conference girls tennis matchup, Iron Mountain hosted Gladstone at the Kingsford High School tennis facility. The teams battled to a 4-4 tie in a match that was held at KHS due to overnight rain in the Iron Mountain area.

“We had a lot of close matches across the board today. Our three and four doubles both had hard-fought matches that didn’t go our way, but I’m proud of the way they battled,” said Iron Mountain coach Marcus Celello.

“Natalia Brown did an excellent job fighting back after a tough first set. She made the necessary adjustments to take control of the match and come out of there with a win. Matches like these will help us as we head towards MPCs and U.P.’s,” Celello added.

Iron Mountain returns to action on Thursday as they’ll host both Westwood and Ishpeming in Mid-Peninsula and West PAC Conference matches, before hosting Menominee on Monday in a non-conference dual.
