Mountaineers persist with long rallies in 3-0 volleyball victory over Ishpeming
IRON MOUNTAIN — In a West PAC and Mid-Peninsula Conference volleyball dual, Iron Mountain defeated Ishpeming in straight sets Thursday night, 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-13) at the Mountaineer Gymnasium.
“I am so impressed by our performance tonight,” said assistant coach Emma Thomann. “The girls worked hard and implemented things we worked on in practice this week,” she said.
“Ishpeming was super scrappy and hustled for every ball and our team adjusted well, there were a lot of long rallies and our girls kept it together,” Thomann added. “I also want to emphasize what a great job we did serving tonight.”
The Mountaineers also won the jayvee and freshmen contests. JV, 2-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-21) and freshmen, 2-0 (25-17, 26-24).
Iron Mountain returns to action on Tuesday when they host a non-conference varsity only match versus rival Norway, beginning at 6 p.m. On Thursday, the Mountaineers travel to West PAC powerhouse Calumet.
