Norway powers past Lake Linden-Hubbell, 30-8
LAKE LINDEN — After trailing until early in the fourth quarter, Norway pulled out its first on-field win in 8-player competition, defeating Lake Linden-Hubbell 30-8 in a Great Lakes Conference West Division matchup Saturday afternoon at Ron Warner Field in Lake Linden.
The Knights (2-1) put 24 points on the scoreboard in the final quarter.
Junior Michael Peterson scored on a 15-yard run and threw a touchdown pass to Kyle Napientek. Senior Gabe Hautamaki scampered 20 yards for a touchdown, as well as running in a pair of conversions.
Norway’s first half touchdown came on a 25-yard pass to senior Aiden Richards from senior Nathaniel Nanney.
The Knights will make another long trip this week, as they travel to Ironwood on Friday night to face fellow first-year 8-player competitors the Red Devils.
The Knights, who won by forfeit earlier this season over Carney-Nadeau, return home to face Forest Park on Sept. 24.
