POWERS -- Forest Park emerged with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-17) volleyball win Tuesday night over North Central.

The Trojans entered the night with a bit of an uphill battle -- which showed in the opening set -- said JV coach Lindsey Anderson -- who was filling in for varsity coach Bobbi Jo Anderson.

"I think right out of the gate, things were a little shaky," Lindsey Anderson said. "Everybody was a little uptight, a little nervous. Things were a little bit different. Obviously, I'm filling in for Bobbi Jo, and we're without our starting middle. Things are a little off, and everybody's changing positions. We've had a lot going on this week."

Forest Park won the opening set 25-23.

As the score rose, the Jets and Trojans traded short runs until a tie at 23.

After Anderson called a timeout, the Trojans scored two points to seal the victory.

From there, the team found its footing.

"Our passing really came around," Anderson said. "I thought that really improved, which really turned things up for us."

Rayven Jacobsen and Gracie Peterson led Forest Park in kills with 13 each, while freshman Audrey Franz collected nine.

Peterson also led the Trojans in aces with five.

North Central coach Rick Mick was happy overall with the Jets' performance, citing badly timed errors as a big part of the loss.

"Our fans were into it. The kids were into it," he said. "We had a couple of really untimely mistakes that kind of killed our momentum."

Mick mentioned Shea LaCoursier -- who had a handful of kills and a block at the net as well as an ace -- Katelyn Deming -- who also had a block and an ace -- and Mady Bemis -- with an ace -- as three Jets who performed well.

Mick added, however, that blocking all-around could be better for the Jets.

"Defensively, at the net, we weren't really on our game," he said.

The Jets now prepare for the Bark River-Harris Broncos Thursday, while the Trojans will ready for the Superior Central Cougars.
