Lake Linden-Hubbell powers past Forest Park gridders, 36-6

LAKE LINDEN — Coming in with an unblemished record and having had a week off due to a Week 7 forfeit win, Forest Park was defeated 36-6 by Great Lakes 8 Conference West Division foe Lake Linden-Hubbell on Saturday afternoon at Ron Warner Field in Lake Linden.

“They came out in the I-formation and ran the ball down our throats,” said Forest Park head coach Brian Fabbri. “As a team we weren’t prepared for that, and that’s on me.”

Having a week off really hurt us, with our young team it hurt our momentum. After that break, we ran into a well-coached team and they took it to us. We were physically dominated, but were in the game until the latter part of it,” Fabbri added.

Turnovers also hurt the Trojans at key times. Two lost fumbles led to short fields for the Lakes, who took full advantage.

“The kids played hard and I am proud of them, but we were outplayed after scoring our touchdown,” Fabbri added.”We got caught looking ahead to next week, instead of being ready to play on Saturday. It was a great learning experience for the team, but also for myself.

Running back Sam McKissak rushed the ball 18 times for 110 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans, who slip to 7-1 on the season. Forest Park returns home to host the AP and UPSSA’s No. 1-ranked North Central Jets Friday night at Dick Mettlach Field.
