IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Kingsford Flivvers held a one-goal lead entering the third period but Minocqua (Wis.) Lakeland High School found the back of the net three times in the final period to overcome the Flivvers 5-4 on Tuesday at Mountain View Ice Arena.

Kingsford broke a 1-1 tie after the opening 17 minutes with an even-strength goal by Jaxon Buckley and a power play goal by Daniel Maki to take a 3-2 advantage heading into the final period.

"We had a couple of costly mistakes -- on a faceoff assignment and we turned the puck over inside the blue line," Kingsford coach Greg Wadge said. "Other than that, the kids worked hard in all three periods and we got good goaltending again."

Sophomore Brett Berglund stopped 32 shots in his first action of the season.

The Flivvers (1-2) got on the board in the first period on a tip-in by sophomore Niko Burgoon.

Senior Hunter Fortner scored Kingsford's other goal, his second of the season, in the third period.

Next up for the Flivvers is a home matchup with Jeffers on Thursday.
