GNC honors Four Flivver cagers

MARQUETTE — Four Kingsford Flivvers were selected to the All-Great Northern Conference girls basketball team for the 2021-22 season.
Seniors Abby Terrian and Talia Wallis were named to the second-team, junior Erika Malone was chosen for the all-defensive team and senior Zoie Geronimi was given honorable mention.
The Marquette Redettes won the conference championship and dominated the all-conference teams. Senior Maria Millado was chosen as both the co-conference player of the year (with Gladstone senior Claire van Ginhoven) and the league’s top defensive player.
Additionally, Marquette coach Ben Smith was named coach of the year.
The league’s first team included Escanaba junior Mari Bink, Marquette junior Meghan MacPhee, Escanaba sophomore Keira Maki and Menominee seniors Anna Nerat and Kennedy Olson.

Joining Terrian and Wallis on the second team were Menominee sophomore Anna Axtell, Gladstone senior Chloe Hanson and Marquette senior Zoe Smith.
Other all-defensive team members included Nerat, Gladstone senior Jamisyn Bergeron, Escanaba sophomore Saylor Henderson and Marquette junior Siena Lingle.
Other players given honorable mention were Escanaba’s Maddy Monkevich and Katelyn Stalboerger, Gladstone’s Veronica Hall and Aliana Martinez, Marquette’s Lingle and Ella Jezewski and Menominee’s Tylee Doyle.
