Lady Badger duo earn conference honors
NIAGARA, Wis. — Niagara junior Josie Rock was selected to the 2021-22 Marinette and Oconto Conference girls basketball all-conference first team recently, while teammate Morgan Borchardt was given honorable mention.
Rock and Borchardt were the top two scorers for the Lady Badgers, who advanced to the WIAA Division 5 regional final and finished with a 16-9 record this season.
Joining Rock on the first team were Coleman junior Aubrey Bintz (also named the league’s most outstanding player), Gillett junior Carleigh Kaczmarek, Lena junior Natalie McNurlen and Suring junior Christine Sleeter.
The M&O second team consisted of Oneida Nation senior RaeAnna Ackley, Gillett senior Alaina Herzog, Coleman senior Desiree Nowak, Wausaukee junior Rachel Schlies and Coleman junior Cameron Zeitler.
Other honorable mentions were given to Gillett senior Naomi Anker (also the league’s top defensive player), Suring junior MacKenzie Bailey, Lena freshman Eva Brooks, Oneida Nation freshman Jaylyn Caldwell, Suring freshman Bunny Cramer, Crivitz freshman Cilena Guns, Coleman sophomore Kiersten Jensen, Suring senior Kate Mahoney and Crivitz senior McKenna Sellen.
