MHSAA boys district pairings announced
EAST LANSING — The Michigan High School Athletic Association released its brackets Sunday for the 2022 boys basketball district tournaments, to be held from March 7-11.
Local teams will begin district play on Monday, March 7.
In the Division 2 District 33 hosted by Escanaba, the Kingsford Flivvers (12-6) will host Houghton (7-9) in a game scheduled for a 5 p.m. tipoff. If they prevail, the Flivvers will play the winner of Negaunee (12-6) and Escanaba (15-4) on Friday, March 11.
The Division 4 District 99, hosted by Carney-Nadeau, will also tip-off on Monday, March 7. with Forest Park (8-11) traveling to Norway (13-5) and North Dickinson (3-15) hosting Carney-Nadeau (4-13). The Forest Park-Norway winner will face off against top-seeded North Central (16-2) on March 9 in Powers, while the North Dickinson-Carney Nadeau victor will host the winner of Stephenson (11-6) and Hannahville Nah Tah (18-2).
The final will be held on Friday, March 11.
In the Division 3 District 66 hosted by Iron Mountain, West Iron County (1-16) travels to Manistique (6-13) on Monday, March 7. The winner will head to Menominee to face the top-seeded and No. 1 ranked Maroons (17-2) on Wednesday.
The second-seeded Mountaineers (14-4) will host the winner of the opening-round contest between Bark River-Harris (7-11) and Gladstone (3-13), also on Wednesday.
The winners on Wednesday will meet for the district trophy on Friday. If the Mountaineers win their semifinal game, they will host the final in a game set for 6 p.m.
