HERMANSVILLE -- The 83rd Gold Medal Classic continues with championship games beginning at 6 p.m Friday in Classes C, D, E and EE.
The tournament wraps up Saturday and Sunday at the Frank Rodman Community Club in Hermansville, featuring Class B and Women's Division action.
Class B will feature five teams, while the women's bracket is a seven-team field. Both divisions are double elimination to their respective championship games, with the Class B final at 5 p.m. Sunday. The women's championship will follow -- the final game of the tournament.
Dexter's Bar of Menominee's Class B roster includes the 2022 MHSAA Division 3 state runner-up Menominee Maroons starting five, consisting of Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Division 1-3 player of the year Aidan Bellisle, Brady Badker, Brody Waara, Brady Schultz and Cooper Conway.
Joining the Maroons' five starters are Mr. U.P. Basketball and U.P. Division 4 player of the year Jaden Boreseth from Ewen-Trout Creek, as well as a pair of All-U.P. Escanaba Eskymos, Colin Hudson and Connor Smale.
Dexters will take the court at 4 p.m. on Saturday versus the winner of the 1 p.m. game, which features Juiced Apparel of Carney taking on Wagner Casper Insurance of Marinette, Wis. The top of the Class B bracket has Bloniarz Farms of Perronville taking on U.P.'s Finest of Hancock at 2 p.m.
The first four games on Saturday will be Women's Division games, beginning at 9 a.m. with Bloniarz Farms of Perronville taking on MFXE of Carney.
Bloniarz Farms has Bay College assistant coach Paige Welch along with Bark River-Harris seniors Cara Zawacki and Aspen Fredrick.
Got Milk of Daggett will take on BAE Massage of Hermansville at 11 a.m. on Saturday. BAE Massage has North Central alumni Andi and Bree Arsenault, sisters from Bay College, along with a handful of their collegiate teammates.
Multiple-time Associated Press Division 4 All-State selection and UPSSA All-UP Dream Team selection Tessa Wagner of Carney-Nadeau will take the floor for Got Milk.
At noon on Saturday, Jacobson Logging of Felch , which has a roster of Lakeland University grads, will take on the winner of the 9 a.m. game.
On Tuesday in Class C, Justin Bloniarz scored 24 points and Tom Granquist netted 16 to lead R Place past Shamco, 67-48.
Tyler Sundling's 18 points paced Rapid River to a 67-49 win over 3's Company in another Class C tilt.
In Class D, Tyler Mercier's 27 points led CTR44 over 3's Company, 69-67.
In Class E, Got Milk shaded Wildwood 52-44 behind CJ Mathews' 17 points.
