NORWAY -- The host Norway boys varsity baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep of North Central on Monday, shutting out the visiting Jets in both games.
In the opener, the Knights got a solid performance from starter Nolan Amundson, who combined with reliever Alex Ortman to no-hit North Central for a 5-0 win in six innings.
Amundson struck out 7 over 4.1 innings, with Ortman fanning 1 over the final 1.2 frames. Despite being hitless, the Jets managed to get traffic on the base paths thanks to 8 walks being issued by the two Norway hurlers, including 6 by Amundson.
At the plate, the Knights were led by Landon Amundson, who was 2-3 with a double and a walk, and 3 RBIs.
Carson Chartier (1-2, R, RBI) and Michael Peterson (1-2) also tallied hits for Norway in the win.
The Knights completed the sweep with a 10-0 victory in four innings in the nightcap. Norway starter Cale Baij blanked the Jets with a 1-hit, complete game performance that included 8 strikeouts and just 1 walk.
Offensive, the Knights were constantly on the attack, scoring in all four innings, with most of the runs coming in a 6-run outburst in the third. The win included hits by 11 different Knights, with Landon Amundson, Baij and Carlson each belting a double and driving in a run.
Trent Naser had the Jets' lone hit of the night in the Game 2 loss.
