IM rolls to 45-8 victory
IRON MOUNTAIN — Joe Colavecchi threw for three touchdowns and Luke Wolfe rushed for two scores and caught another to power Iron Mountain to a dominating 45-8 victory over visiting Bark-River Harris on Friday at Mountaineer Stadium.
Matthew Colavecchi also put up big numbers with four receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Fullback Bradon Farragh added a rushing touchdown to the list.
Joe Colavecchi finished 8 of 10 passing for 225 yards.
Iron Mountain (4-1) led 14-0 after the first quarter and put the game away in the second quarter, taking a 38-0 lead into intermission.
Since losing their opener 19-14 to Negaunee, the Mountaineers have won four straight and have outscored their opponents in those games 162-14.
IM coach Robin Marttila had plenty of praise to pass around afterward.
“Joe Colavecchi passed the ball well,” Marttila said. “Matthew Colavecchi had a great day. … Luke Wolf is a playermaker and scored three touchdowns.
“Our defense did their job,” he added. “Our defense was able to stop Bark River’s potent running game.”
Fulton Stroud led the defense with eight tackles and an interception. Colin Schneider recorded six tackles and two sacks.
Iron Mountain put up 345 yards of total offense, while holding Bark-River Harris (3-2) to 161. Wolfe led his team on the ground with 98 yards on seven carries. The Mountaineers punted just one time.
The Mountaineers stay home this week to face Calumet (3-2) in a West Pac Conference game on Friday, Sept. 30. The contest will close out Iron Mountain’s home regular-season schedule.
