Shorthanded Ladycats sweep C-N

CARNEY — The Florence varsity volleyball team continued to play well despite a key injury as they swept host Carney-Nadeau 25-18, 25-17 and 25-15 in a non-conference match Monday.

Morgan Tomczak powered the Ladycats’ offense with 21 kills. Leah Young added five aces and Maddie Johnson ran the offense to the tune of 31 assists.

Florence remains without injured sophomore standout Kamdan Johnson.

“I just need other hitters to step up so we can become more balanced,” Florence coach Teresa Chrisman said. “I’m looking forward to getting Kamdan back, but this helped our team become more vocal and scrappy. Passing has been great, led by Bella Millan and Leah Young.”

Freshman Sami Demuri had a 100% serving night, Chrisman added.

The Ladycats also won the JV match by taking the first two sets 25-20, 25-19. The Wolves won the third 25-17.

The Ladycats are off until Saturday when they travel to Crystal Falls for the Forest Park Invitational.

Starting at $3.50/week.
