Area players suit up for Miner’s Cup clash

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech (2-4, 1-1 GLIAC) will host Northern Michigan (3-3, 1-1) on Saturday in the 20th annual Miner’s Cup football game, with Tech having won each of the past 11 matchups.

Kickoff at Kearly Stadium is at 1 p.m. Fans who cannot attend the game have a range of options for watching and listening, including Flosports video stream, Mix 93.5 FM radio, and TV6 television coverage.

Michigan Tech leads the all-time series 48-41-5 in games dating back to 1920.

The Huskies had their best offensive output of the season in a 35-34 home win over Wayne State on Saturday. Senior tight end Luke Terrian of Kingsford caught a five-yard pass in the endzone from quarterback Will Ark for his first career TD. For the season, Terrian has eight catches for 50 yards.

Northern Michigan is coming off a 27-24 home loss to Davenport in overtime.

For the Wildcats, redshirt sophomore tight end Charlie Gerhard of Iron Mountain has 10 catches for 92 yards this season. Long snapper Caden Pellizzer, a junior from West Iron County, has appeared in six games and has one solo tackle.
