IRON MOUNTAIN -- Calumet defeated Houghton 2-0 (25-9, 25-17) to win the 2022 West Pac Conference single elimination tournament on Saturday at Iron Mountain High School.
The Copper Kings swept Gwinn and Negaunee to advance to the final.
Iron Mountain won its first match of the day over Hancock 2-0 (26-24, 25-20). The Mountaineers advanced to face the Gremlins in the semifinals, with Houghton coming out on top with a 2-0 sweep (25-21, 25-17).
"We played Hancock for the first time," IM coach Jeanne Newberry said. "In the first set we were evenly matched and came back from a four-point deficit to tie and battled point-for-point to a 26-24 win.
"The team came out with strong serving in the second set," Newberry added.
West Iron County lost its opening-round match, falling to Negaunee 2-0 (25-19, 25-18).
Westwood and Ishpeming also competed in the tournament. Both lost their first match.
