Jets sink Lakes 45-6

POWERS — Senior standout Luke Gorzinski ran for four touchdowns Friday night, leading the top-ranked team in 8-player football, North Central, to a 45-6 triumph over the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes in the MHSAA Division 2 district final on the Jets home field at North Central High School.

Gorzinski gave the host Jets (11-0) a 7-0 lead on a 45-yard run in the first quarter.

The visiting Lakes (7-4) closed within 7-6 on a 29-yard pass from Sam Roberts to Dan Marcotte early in the second.

Gorzinski dashed for TDs from 57 and 35 yards in the second quarter, giving the Jets a 21-6 halftime cushion.

The Jets made it 27-6 on Gorzinski’s one-yard run in the third. Dillon Raab added a 10-yard TD run and Jacob Gorzinski scored from 18 in the fourth.

North Central finished with 454 yards in total offense, including 366 on the ground.

Luke Gorzinski rushed 18 times for 250 and completed 5-of-10 passes for 88.

Senior Dillon Raab ran four times for 55 and caught two aerials for 63. Lane Gorzinski gained 43 on five carries.

If leading the his team offensively wasn’t enough, Luke Gorzinski also led the Jets defense with nine tackles, including six solo hits, and an interception. Raab chipped in 8.5 tackles (6 solo, 2.5 TFL) and Jordan Messenger had 5.5 tackles.

Other contributors defensively included Dylan Plunger with 4.5 tackles and two interceptions, and Colin Cordy with the Jets only sack of the game.

LL-H passed for 123 of its 207 yards in total offense. Marcotte had three receptions for 80 and Roberts had 84 yards on 40 carries.

The Jets next travel downstate to Marion for a state regional semifinal contest Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT.
