Kingsford netters reap GNC honors

KINGSFORD — Six Kingsford Flivvers volleyball players were selected to the 2022 all-Great Northern Conference team at a recent meeting of league coaches.

Leading the way was sophomore libero Ellery Nash, who was voted the league’s defensive player of the year. Fellow sophomore setter/left outside hitter Madelynn Kreider and senior right side hitter Elaina Bortolini were honored with inclusion to the GNC first team.

Sophomore middle hitter Kailey Sundquist was picked to the second team, while senior middle hitter Laura Bracket and sophomore defensive specialist/outside hitter Jenna Viau were each given honorable mention for the Flivvers.

Escanaba middle hitter Katelyn Stalboerger was selected by league coaches as the player of the year and Menominee’s Sarah Betzinger was honored by her peers as the GNC coach of the year.

Other first-team members included Marquette middle hitter Jessica Gooch, Escanaba middle hitter Grayson LaMarche, Escanaba setter/right outside hitter Carney Salo, Escanaba left outside hitter Aleaha Lambert, Menominee middle hitter Piper Monroe and Menominee setter Faith Herbert.

Additional second-team selections included Marquette middle hitter Cora Anderson, Marquette outside hitter Hailey Ridolphi, Escanaba setter Mari Bink, Escanaba outside hitter Harlee Coolman and Menominee outside hitter/back row player Jade Jasenovsky.

Other league players given honorable mention were Escanaba libero Kendra Boosamra, Gladstone libero Devin Messina, Gladstone middle hitter Lillie Johnson and Menominee middle hitter Hanna Drifka.
