Top ’Cats: Border 8 names all-conference honorees

FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence head coach Kent Walstrom and several of his Bobcat football players were honored by the Northern Border 8 Conference in recent voting for the all-conference teams.
Walstrom, who led Florence to the conference championship, was selected as coach of the year.
Meanwhile, Laona-Wabeno’s Carter Janesch was picked as the offensive player of the year, teammate Hunter Cronauer was named the defensive player of the year, co-offensive lineman of the year with Three Lakes-Phelps LJ Terlizzi and defensive lineman of the year.
Three Bobcats were picked to the Northern Border’s first team — senior running back Evan Johnson, junior Will Kelley for both kicker and defensive back, and junior defensive lineman Bryce Leffler.
Niagara senior wide receiver Aiden Colenso was also honored with a first-team selection.
Goodman/Pembine representatives on the first team were senior Sam Niven at both offensive back and linebacker, senior tight end Ryan Erickson and junior punter Ryan Ehlert.
Florence’s Kelley was a unanimous pick for both kicker and defensive back, while Leffler was a unanimous choice at defensive lineman and Goodman-Pembine’s Niven at linebacker.
Second team selections included Leffler (offensive lineman), Florence junior offensive back Logan Schuls, Florence sophomore offensive lineman Breyson Kelley, Florence senior defensive lineman Will Sipple and Niagara junior linebacker Christian Hedmark.
Honorable mentions were given to William Kelley (quarterback), Johnson (defensive back), Schuls (linebacker) and Florence junior linebacker Joey Halstrom.
Goodman-Pembine honorable mentions were Ehlert (quarterback and defensive back) and senior Ryan Erickson (linebacker).
