CHEBOYGAN — The Kingsford varsity hockey team topped host Cheboygan 3-0 on Saturday behind a two-goal performance by Gavin Moore.

But it was Kingford’s Niko Burgoon who scored the game-winner when tallying the Flivvers’ first goal in the first period off assists by teammates Jake Crockford and Michael Wolfenberg.

Moore helped put the game out of reach by scoring in both the second and third periods, with Will Murvich and Jake Deuter credited with helpers on the respective goals.

The victory helped the Flivvers rebound from a 4-0 loss to the South High Blue Devils in Sault Ste. Marie on Friday.

Kingsford is getting used to playing on the road. The Flivvers don’t return by to their home ice at Mountain View Ice Arena in Iron Mountain until Jan. 10, when they host Hancock.
