DeMuri leads Bobcats over Crandon 51-41

FLORENCE, Wis. — Senior guard Dominic DeMuri scored 13 of his game-high 20 points in the first half, helping lead host Florence boys basketball team to a 51-41 win over Northern Lakes Conference rival Crandon on Tuesday night.

“Dominic DeMuri had a solid game tonight on both ends of the floor,” said Florence varsity head coach Brian Bomberg.

And, the Bobcats (10-1 overall, 5-0 conference) would need DeMuri’s early scoring outburst, as the visiting Cardinals (2-7 overall, 1-4 conference) cut into Florence’s 30-16 halftime lead by outscoring the home team 25-21 in the second half.

“I thought Crandon came in ready to roll,” Bomberg said. “We got up a few times early, and just did not settle in.

“Friday night we have another home game (versus Gresham Community) and I hope we play with a bit more fire in our bellies,” the coach added.

Logan Schuls joined DeMuri in double digits with 12 points, with William Kelley chipping in with eight points and Dustin Williams adding six points for the Bobcats. Seth Axley and Evan Johnson rounded out the team’s scoring with three and two points, respectively.
