Nordics edge Lady Trojans in 8
FELCH North Dickinson built a 9-4 lead through five innings, only to see Forest Park roar back with five in the top of the seventh before the Nordics pushed a run across in the bottom of the eighth to record a 10-9 victory over their Skyline Central Conference rivals on Thursday.
Forest Park scored one in the top of the first, but North Dickinson came back with two in the bottom of the frame. The Lady Trojans plated another run in the top of the second, but again the Nordics answered, this time with five to pull out to a 7-2 advantage after two.
The teams traded runs in the third and fifth innings before Forest Park fired back in the seventh.
Gabby Schultz, Mary Grace Holmes, Dalaney Steinbrecher and Alle Brown all posted two hits for the Nordics. Schultz and Steinbrecher recorded an RBI each and two runs scored each, while Makayla Hoffman also scored two runs.
North Dickinson compiled 13 stolen bases in the game, led by Schultz with five.
For the Lady Trojans, Sarah Bortolini lined a triple and knocked in three runs, while Audrey Franz smacked a double and knocked in two runs to lead their nine-hit attack. Dalaney Wagner added a double, an RBI and a run scored in four at-bats.
Charlie Larson scored three runs, while Lauren Kudwa scored two.
Larson, Kara Woollard, Ellie Ayers, Skylar VanOss and Lilly Post all logged singles for Forest Park.
Janessa Chartier notched the win in the circle for ND, pitching all eight innings. She allowed nine hits, three earned runs while fanning 11 and walking just two.
