IRON MOUNTAIN — With the coming of summer, the action at the Ray Mariucci Bocce Complex is back and rolling with league play and good times.

The Dickinson Area Bocce Association recently started its annual league play at the Ray Mariucci Bocce Complex at the Iron Mountain City Park on North Park Road. The DABA hosts two men’s leagues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as a mixed league on Wednesdays.

If that’s not enough, DABA is also hosting several tournaments and special events over the summer starting with its Open Singles Bocce Tournament on June 24. On July 15, there’s Open Bocce in the Park and a week later the three-person U.P. Open Bocce Tournament on July 22, with the Bocce State Tournament to be held on July 29.

The fun continues with the Two-Person Shoot Out Bocce Tournament on Aug. 12 and the Lisa Lundy Bocce Tournament on Sept. 4.

Most of the tournaments start at 8:45 a.m., with players completing in the Bocce State Tournament needing to be at the courts by 8 a.m. No preregistration is required.

Local bocce player Paul Picucci of Iron Mountain marks a point for his team during a match at the Thursday Men’s League on June 8. Along with league play, the DABA is also hosting several tournaments and other events over the summer months. (Dennis Mansfield/Daily News photo)
