FLINT — The Bay College Norse women’s basketball season came to an end on Thursday with a 73-57 loss to Jackson College in the NJCAA Great Lakes District C semifinals.

The Norse finished 22-9 overall and 13-1 in the MCCAA.

For the season, freshman forward Jada Freudinger of Norway averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting a team-leading 43.9% from the floor.

In the opening round of the Great Lakes tourney, Freudinger scored 14 points in a 66-57 win over Grand Rapids Community College.

Norse Coach Todd Ciochetto said next year’s team will include a dozen new recruits and six returners.

PATRIOTS TRADE JONES TO JAGUARS

By The Associated Press

The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to acquire New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones for a sixth-round pick in next month’s NFL draft according to a person with knowledge of the decision.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade cannot become official until the new league year begins Wednesday and after Jones passes a physical.

The move brings Jones home; he was born and raised in Jacksonville.

He also provides competition behind starter Trevor Lawrence.

Jones will vie with 30-year-old quarterback C.J. Beathard for the backup spot.

SCHEFFLER ROLLS FIELD AT BAY HILL

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler is the best in golf from tee to green.

He was hot with the putter at Bay Hill and the result was predictable.

Scheffler demolished a strong field to win by five shots.

It’s the largest margin at the Arnold Palmer Invitational since Tiger Woods in 2012.

Scheffler shot a 66 in the final round while playing in the last group.

That was the best score by two shots on Sunday.

U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark had a 70 and was runner-up.

Shane Lowry shot 72 and finished third.

Lowry started the final round tied for the lead with Scheffler.

“I just stayed in my own little space and tried to keep pushing,” Scheffler said.
