Gold Medal Classic hands out tournament awards
HERMANSVILLE — After two weeks of intense competition at the Frank Rodman Community Club, the Gold Medal Classic released its end of tournament awards on Wednesday with Jason Whitens from “R” Place in Spalding receiving the Joe Rodman Award, an award given to the Most Outstanding Player in the tournament.
The Dick Deschine trophy was awarded to Adam Nolde from Bloniarz Farms, Perronville. His 41- point performance was the most points scored in one game during the Gold Medal Classic.
His teammate, Nick Nolde, was awarded the Marv Fedrizzi trophy after scoring 108 points during the tournament.
The Glen Fleetwood Sportsmanship trophy was given to Noah Gorzinski of Whitens Dry Kiln, Hermansville.
Mike Malone, Wildwood, Hermansville, took home the Ray Bray Award, which is given to the tournament’s most colorful player.
Darius Yohe of “R” Place, Spalding, took home Defensive MVP honors.
On April 13, the 2024 Gold Medal Classic Hall of Fame induction was held in Hermansville.
The inductees include Karla Strand, Paul Polfus, Bob Ranallo, Jacob Polfus, Mike Polfus, Roger Grinsteiner, DeVante Blanks and Malcom McNeil.
McNeil was awarded the honors posthumously.
