Date set for 47th annual Lake Antoine Classic
IRON MOUNTAIN — The 47th Annual Lake Antoine Classic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Lake Antoine Park.
The Classic, which starts at 9 a.m., is a benefit for the Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics, and is sponsored by Systems Control, First National Bank of Iron Mountain, Kwik Trip and iwannagoLLC.
For many years, the proceeds from the Lake Antoine Classic have supported the Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics basketball program.
New this year is a 5K run along Lake Antoine. It will join the two-mile run in the Lake Antoine Park area, the five-mile run around Lake Antoine, and the 15K trail run through the Fumee Lake Natural Area.
Walkers are welcome on the two-mile, 5K and five-mile courses, and bikers are encouraged to ride any of the courses.
The first three male and female finishers in each race will receive awards.
In addition, medals will be given to the first three finishers in each age group.
All participants and volunteers will receive a race T-shirt, as well as being able to enjoy fruit and bagels after the race. Gatorade will also be provided by WalMart. Water will be provided by WP Beverages.
This year’s Lake Antoine Classic will be held five weeks ahead of the Iron Mountain Road and Trail half marathon. Approximately four miles of the 15k course is also part of the half marathon course.
