KINGSFORD — The Kingsford varsity soccer team opened its season on a hot streak and hasn’t looked back as it improved its record to 5-0 on Friday after a 5-1 victory over Wrightstown at Commemorative Field.

“We played a good game,” Flivvers head coach Jeff Gordon said. “It’s a good day when all our players get game time experience on the field. We moved the ball efficiently most of the game and played our positions very well. Our mids and defense protected the center of the field and delivered balls to our forwards.

“We possessed the ball on our opponents side most of the game.We had a lot of opportunities for goals in this game. I appreciate Wrightstown for coming up to play us.”

Senior Jaxon Buckley kicked off the scoring for Kingsford in the first minute of play. His goal was assisted by Jonah Nelson.

Buckley added two more goals in the first half, one off an assist from Jett Buckley and Gavin Kinsella.

Wrightstown scored on a free kick in the first half. However, Kingsford would add two goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Jaxon Buckley got his fourth goal of the game off an assist from Jett Buckley and Nathan Kenny. Then Clark Robb sealed the game with a goal off an assist from Colin Micheau.

The Flivvers are back in action today when they head to Marquette for a 3 p.m. start.
