Kingsford wins Sentinel Invite
MARQUETTE — Holding the No. 2 rank in Division 1-3, according to the Upper Peninsula Sportswriter and Sportscasters Association, the Kingsford varsity volleyball team dominated the competition in Marquette on Saturday.
Ending the day with a perfect 10-0 record, the Flivvers took home first place with wins over Gwinn (2-0; 25-8, 25-12), Ironwood (2-0; 25-14, 25-14), Escanaba (2-0; 25-21, 25-11), Hancock (2-0, 25-19, 25-18) and Marquette (2-0; 25-17, 25-22).
Senior Maddy Kreider led the Flivvers with 41 digs and 33 kills. She also tallied a block, 11 aces and 37 assists.
Kingsford also received contributions from Anna Bortolini (35 digs, 10 aces, 16 kills, 1 block), Alyssa Larson (12 digs, 56 assists, 2 kills), Ellery Nash (39 digs, 3 assists, 3 aces), Jenna Viau (27 digs, 10 aces, 4 kills, 2 blocks), Mylee Kreider (5 digs, 15 kills, 2 blocks), Kailey Sundquist (9 digs, 4 aces, 28 kills, 8 blocks), Mya Brunswick (4 digs, 2 kills), Karly Trevillian (3 kills, 2 assists), Chloe Blazer (1 dig), Cassie Olson (16 kills, 5 blocks) and Adelyn Normand (1 kill).
The Flivvers are back in action on Tuesday against Calumet at Flivver Gym.
