L’ANSE — Evan Mendini struck out 11 batters as Iron Mountain defeated L’Anse 6-2 on Thursday in varsity baseball action.

Mendini gave up one hit and two runs over seven innings while walking five in the road win.

Aiden Ellis collected three hits — a double and two singles. Ellis and Joey Wahoviak each stole multiple bases for the Mountaineers, who accumulated nine thefts in the game.

The Mountaineers travel to Negaunee today.
