Bobcats launch hit parade in opener

FLORENCE, Wis. — Trent McLain hit for the cycle and drove in six runs to lead Florence to a 24-0 rout of visiting White Lake in a WIAA Division 4 Level 1 regional contest Thursday at Florence High School.

McClain recorded an RBI single in the first and then smacked a two-run homer in the second. The senior followed with a three-RBI triple in the third and later doubled to complete his cycle.

The Bobcats scored eight runs in each of the first three innings. Other Bobcats who drove in runs included Bradley Steber with four, Kade Larson, Mason Koski, Carson Chrisman, Kolton Campbell and Breyson Kelly with two each and Matthew Smith and Kyle Smith with one apiece.

Koski started for Florence and recorded the win, striking out five in his two innings of work.

Chrisman, Steber and Kelley all pitched a shutout inning of relief.

The Bobcats advance to host No. 6 seed Bowler on Tuesday in Level 2 of the 2025 playoffs. Bowler moved on with a 7-2 win over No. 11 seed Newman Catholic on Thursday.
